Letter finally completed on March 3rd, 2010
(I started this months ago, right after you were born... and am writing this directly in your book so you'll have another copy. XO)
Oh how I love you so incredibly much! Your Gramma told me that I would never know how much she loved me until I became a mother… and now that I am your mother I know just what she meant. I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of infinite love your Dad and I have for YOU!
I waited for months and months to meet you… and the moment you entered our world, it was so special. Having you is the BEST thing we have ever done and we are always here for you. As your Gramma, my Mom, told me… I may not always like what you do, but I will always, always, always, LOVE you!
You were ‘due’ to be born on July 18th… it was a super hot week and temperatures soared to 109 degrees. On early Thursday morning, the 23rd, I woke up in the middle of the night and that’s when it all begin. Dad and I went to the hospital to see if my water had broken and they sent us home and said to come back later that evening to be admitted. Well, you had other plans for us. Later that afternoon I was cutting flowers on the back deck and I knew something was up. So, back to the hospital we went and that’s when your Dad and I ’moved in’ to the birth center at Southwest Washington Medical Center around 7 p.m. (Look in your baby book and you’ll see lots of pictures that tell some of the story.)
That night, as I laid in the hospital bed, and your Dad sat next to me… you decided to “party” and moved around so much that it was hard for the nurses to track your heartbeat and monitor you. Eventually you decided to calm down and early the next morning I was induced to get you moving downward to be born. Hours and hours later, you arrived and we are soooooo thrilled to be your parents. We are always here for you!
It is such a joy to watch you grow and change each day. You bring me soooo much happiness and teach me so much. I will do my best to be the 'best' Mom I can be. Learning, staying healthy in body, mind, and spirit… and being present for you, always.
Alex, I love you more that you‘ll ever know.
All my love and hugs,
Mom
