New shoes

Today we ventured to Nordstrom (Gramma wanted to do this during her visit but we didn't have time... sorry!) And we got you some shoes!  Since we're going to Colorado in a couple weeks and you're so close to walking, it was time to get some real shoes versus just your Robeez.  At Nordstrom there were so many colors and styles to choose from and after you cried, hollered, turned red in the face, and cried some more... we ended up with a nice brown pair of stride rites.  $59.95 later!  Wow!  Every day you take more and more independent steps... your max number today was four!
Look at your cute little face... you are keeping your eye on the salesclerk... wondering if she's going to touch your feet again.
 Here's what we went with...
thinking Daddy would like the outdoor style and color
On the way home, we went to the carwash
and you had saucer eyes and kept looking all around.
Mommy LOVES the carwash!
Mommy also tried out your new chair when we got home.
You have been sitting in your chair all by yourself!
Something else you did for the first time today was use crayons!  We picked up some big crayons and a notebook for you at Target today... and then sat outside.  You bit a little of the tip off the blue crayon... yuck!  And then explored and climbed on the tractor.
 A busy and fun day!

Happy birthday Gramma!

Gramma turned 65 today!  What fun to have your birthday so close to hers.  At first, you wanted to help her open her presents, until you decided to snuggle with Mommy.

You and Titus took a long nap after our fun weekend!

Friends and Happy birthday to you!

Gramma, Uncle Jon, Scott, Erin and Drew came down on Thursday night for your birthday weekend... Hooray!   Drew and his parents were the first of the bunch to arrive... and since it was so warm, we all went swimming!

You and Drew are exactly 4 weeks apart... Drew is the older of you two.  What a blast to have you two little friends so close!

We love spending quality time with Erin, Scott, and Drew... and all had a blast splashing in the "cool" tub, as Daddy calls it, and catching up.  You little buddies are so cute together.  Now old enough to recognize that the other exists and ready to explore together!  You took your first bath with Drew and pretty much hung out side-by-side during his visit.  As we were almost done in the tub downstairs, Gramma and Uncle Jon pulled in the driveway (after a 6 hour car ride in Friday afternoon traffic.  Yikes!)  Auntie Jane is staying with Franny, so Gramma and Jon could come visit...  she is so sweet and thoughtful.  During breakfast, you and Drew ate side by side and Titus was hoping for some scraps to eat.  Both you and Drew took food off each other's trays.
Nice sharing Alexander!
Bath time with a friend is so much fun!
You both still looked a little sleepy after breakfast
On Saturday morning we all worked together to set up for your birthday!!!  Gramma and Jon came up in the morning, since they spent the night at James and Jalaine's house (super nice of them to offer their extra bedrooms to them.)
Gramma and Uncle Jon took charge of making eggs, ham, punch, and waffles for the kids.  Mommy hung decorations and got other things set up, while Scott and Daddy set up tables on the back deck and did 'behind the scenes' prep.  It was awesome to do it as a team.  Erin spent over an hour cutting up fruit for your party.  We appreciate everyone's help!  Our friends starting arriving around 10:30 am, and about a half hour later we had brunch, then cake and ice cream, and you then opened presents on the front porch.
Check out the cool monkey wrapping paper!
We love the birthday brunch tradition!  Gramma made party favor bags for your young friends and they absolutely loved them.  She says that every year she'll do that and when you're old enough, the two of you will go out and pick things for the goodie bags together.  What an awesome tradition to start!
Your Uncle Jon knows how to make you laugh and smile!

Uncle Jon also helped your friends with their breakfast, and Daddy wore his special shirt from the day you were born!  Grandpa James wore his special shirt too, and Jalaine videotaped you eating your cake... you sure had fun!

Your birthday cake is really
an over the hill design from Costco.

We liked the mountain picture for you so that's what we ordered... since you're our little adventurer!

After everyone left, you kept "partying" and decided you weren't ready for a nap... so we opened up some more presents.
Your friends and family gave you such nice presents!  Around 6:30, you ate dinner and started to nod off... so we put your to bed... and you woke up a little after 7 pm and wanted to play again!  You are a party animal!
Your birthday was a blast!  We are so incredibly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.  And what a gift to have them celebrate YOU with us!  Happy birthday buddy!

5th Anniversary!

What an even more extra special time of year this is.  Yesterday, we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary, tomorrow's your 1st birthday, and Gramma turns 65 on July 27th!

Daddy took the day off yesterday and the four of us had some awesome "us" time.  We went to the doggie park, ate lunch together, all napped, and then played outside in the evening... perfect and relaxing!
Snuggles with my sweet Alexander!
You sure love to play together!
More snuggles... you love to use me as your jungle gym
 Daddy is so handsome!

Our little explorer

You climbed into the kitchen drawer today!
Titus was watching you and wondering what you were up to!

7 days later...

Well, it's been a week since our last entry... since then, Steve's been to the International BMW Motorcycle Rally in Redmond, Oregon and you, Titus, and I took a quick weekend trip up to Bellevue to visit Gramma and Uncle Jon.  It was busy and nice to spend time with them.  We also spent the day with Donna on Saturday, at the Edmonds Farmers Market.  Mommy and Daddy used to live in Edmonds so it was fun to go back to our old stomping grounds and to be there with you!
You sure love the dishwasher... wait til you realize that the buttons turn it on!  And, drawers are fun to go through.  I'm not sure if Gramma and Uncle Jon realized how you literally get into everything these days.  Uncle Jon put some cabinet locks on after we arrived.
You tried to help him... what fun it is to swing the cupboard doors... open, close, open, close!
Franny keeping her eyes on you, while you explored!
We had lunch in Edmonds and you were entertained in the corner of their gated-in patio (it was perfect for you!)  People who walked by, talked with you.  You also ate some blueberry muffin for the first time.

On the way home, we visited Grandpa Frank and Liz... and you met and played with Claire.  She has some cool toys at her Grandparents house, and you two climbed up and down the stairs together.

For your birthday, they gave you a very sweet book that we now read at bedtime, and a shape-sorting tool toy.  You love it, and have been shaking the shapes all over the house.
When we got home that night you were exhausted!  You did manage to play with the box full of things you pulled from the cupboards though.  Then you passed out and slept in the pack n' play all night long... a first!
Sunday morning we left in the morning and got back in the afternoon to spend time with Daddy.  We missed him last week!
