A multitude of smiles at Multnomah...

Views from over  Daddy's shoulder...by Alexander.
Today we took a family trip to Multnomah Falls.  The drive along the Columbia River Gorge is always beautiful... and Titus is always a little a bit carsick. He whined a lot in my ear as we made our way past Bridge of the Gods and over to the Columbia Gorge. We finally got to the falls and Dad put me in my favorite conveyance, the backpack! Up on his back I went and off Mommy, Titus, Daddy hiked. We started off at the Multnomah lodge and its parking lot full of people. On the way up to the the trail head and waterfalls Daddy looked back in his little hand held mirror make sure I was OK, and I was. I was simply kicking back in the backpack enjoying the scenery looking over Dad's shoulder. The trail climbed and climbed, over 11 switchbacks! Way up above the Columbia river we finally got to the top and started down toward the river and finally a trail that wasn't paved! By this time I could tell that Dad was a little warm, toting me and the pack must have been heavy because he was down to almost just a t-shirt and vest, and it was 45 degrees and raining! I didn't mind the mist though, it made me remember that I am a child of the Great Northwest!  After looking at the cool waterfalls from the top viewing platform    ( I liked the view from below better ) we started back down all of the switchbacks. Titus had fun pulling Mommy back down the trail and meeting lots of other dogs coming up. I made it about halfway down by the time the combination of the slight bouncing of the backpack, being bundled in my down suit, and the great outdoors, put me to sleep. The next thing I remember is Mommy waking me up at the car. I can't wait for my next trip on the trail!
