What's up with the oven mitt?

For the past week you have been pulling the oven mitts from the drawers, and you insist that we put them on our hands... no matter where we are or what we are doing.  When we take them off, you get upset.  And as soon as we put one on, you return to your normal business.  We like to say "all's well in your world", when we have the oven mitts on.  What's up with that?
